I read the Obesity Factor article. It talked about banning fast-food ads to help reduce the amount of kids becoming overweight or obese. I thought the article was very helpful and informative. Some countries have already banned them so we should do the same. I agree with the article. The amount of overweight people in America has increased tremendously. By banning fast-food ads, this cans prevent younger generations from becoming even more unhealthy. When little kids see an ad about food with things they find fascinating to their brains, it makes them want it even more no matter how unhealthy it is. I am not sure how one would go about to ban fast-food ads. I guess people could put up a petition or something and rallies. I was surprised by the findings. I didn't really realize how banning fast-food ads could affect obesity so greatly. I have thought about how ads can make people want things more but I never knew how not allowing some ads to be seen could make such a difference. I also didn't think that banning fast-food ads was allowed and possible to be done. I guess if enough people want fast-foods ads to be banned then they can. This website http://www.rwjf.org/childhoodobesity/digest.jsp?id=9006 also talks about the affects of fast-food ads and how banning them will help reduce the amount of kids becoming overweight. (I cannot comment on other people’s comments because there are not other comments.)

I read the Sex Appeal article. It was talking about how commercials use females, words, and packaging to promote their product. It also talked about how ice cream, chips, and other junk food items are being promoted with packaging and advertising these days with different slogans.I agree with everything in this article. Advertising needs to be a lot different. They need to not use females to promote their product. It not right and disturbing to some women. They also don't need to use some of the slogans they use to promote the product, yes it does promote the item better but still. I've never really thought about these issues before until i read these articles and commercials.
I also agree with Michelle. Their are a lot of overweight people in the world today and that amout is still increasing. If they would ban fast-food ads it would stop adults and young children from becoming overweight and unhealthy.
The website http://www.helium.com/items/404062-do-ads-that-use-sex-to-sell-their-products-degrade-women explains how advertising with sex appeal is disgusting and wrong. It also tells us how not only adults are watching the commercials but young kids are watching them to and think that whats going on in the commerical is actually true.

I read the article the media mad me eat it. And i do feel that a lot of the food commercials that you see are centered toward a certain gender to make either a male or a female want it for some reason. Like the beer commercials i think are more centered towards males because its something that some people drink when their are watching football games but like the healthy snack bars i think are more toward the females just because of the way the commercials a set up.

I read the article about the junk food ad ban. It talked about banning junk food ads on the television and radio between 6 oclock am and 9 oclock pm in order to keep children from viewing them and becoming obese. It also mentioned banning celebrities and cartoon characters on tv from eating foods that are high in fat, sugar, and salt. When little kids see an ad or commercial that show their favorite cartoon characters or celebrities eating something unhealthy or doing something they think is cool, it makes them want to do the same. Although I agree that commercials have an effect on what kids eat, I also believe it is not the only reason kids are becoming obese. I think by banning junk food ads during the day it will decrease the amount of kids who want to and will eat junk food. When they don't see their favorite charaters eating an unhealthy food in a tv show they might think its not cool to eat junk food anymore. Therefore, they won't want to eat it. I wasn't very surprised at these findings because when I watch television I see junk food ads all the time. Of course ive thought about these issues before, they have been around for a long time and many people have been trying to change them.

i read the one about sex apeal and i agree that there targeting adults because every adult wants to look sexy to the opposite sex.

I was reading one of the links about the sales and advertisement of Hardees and Burger King. This is a little outdated. The part that is not outdated is the fact about the limitations of there ads. One of the ads wanted to involve the words A whole and B whole and they wouldn't allow it. Burger King's SpongeBob commercial was also a big loss. Even now Burger King is loosing a ton of money do to ads. I think that they can't keep these ads up if they bankrupt themselves in the process.
I feel that CHOICE is making a good decision on the ban. We as a society need to be more concerned with our eating habits. I think the ban is a perfect idea. Yes, I was suprised and I have thought about these things before.
I feel that my great friend Michelle Tucker, whom I sit behind in 4th period, is correct. Our nation should start banning bad food. I hope a government official reads our comments.

I read the "Banning Junk Food Ads" article. I do agree with what this article is talking about. Junk food ads should be banned between 6am and to 9pm. Without these kinds of ads, teens won't have an urge to get those fatty foods. Honestly, I never have thought about these issues before until I read this article.
I read the Sex Appeal article. It was talking about how commercials use females, words, and packaging to promote their product. I dont think this is right because kids also watch these commericals, and they might think its real. I like every thing about this artcile and thinks its all true.
I agree with Meshell because their are to many over weight people in this world.

i read the "sex appeal" article;;i agree with everything that was discussed in the article. junkfood ads these days are over the top. most are rated like pg-13, but are shown to little kids. (idk if they are for real, but they probably could be, so i just said that. lol) anyway, the article mainly talked about how companies have their commercials using words, females, and packaging to promote their product(s). nevertheless, it obviously works since most americans are over weight. but just because these companies are selling there product(s), and a lot of them, the way they do it isn't necessarily appropriate. many commercials use women who show off their bodies while eating/drinking the product, implying that "even if you eat junkfood all the time, you can still have a body like mine." regardless of whether or not it helps the product sell or not, they should consider how that makes some women feel. if they are going to use females, then they should act more appropriate;for ALL ages. also, they should try to watch what they say on commercials. i mean if it is a little kid and they see a celebrity they like on a commercial for some snack they like, they might say the things that are said on the commercial, or act how they act on the commercial. they may be unconscious of what they are saying or doing because they are only a kid. so like i said i agree 100% of what the article discussed.

I read the sex appeal article. It talked about using words, packaging, and women to sell their products. I agree with the article. I believe that even though some women are more "sex" than others, they shouldn't be able to use women to promote their products. When you do that, it's pretty ,much only getting out to the men in the world. I mean yeahh, some women see they girl and wanna look exactly like her or whatever. They shouln't be able to use anything sex-like to advertise anything. Especially since young kids watch television more than a lot of other people do.
I also agree with michelle about the whole obesity thing. There are too many people are over weight and i think if other counrties have banned certain things that pursuade people to eat more fast food, maybe we should too ?http://ezinearticles.com/?Sex-in-Advertising:-Does-it-Sell?&id=14551

I read "The Media Made Me Eat It",, and I agree 100%. Food is very gendered and stereotyped nowadays. For example,, not many women are going to go crazy for an Angus 3/4 pounder at McDonalds,, and i doubt men will go crazy over mcdonalds fruit salad.I don't disagree. I haven't really taken the time to look at this before but it is very interesting. I agree with Tyler about how he talked about how beer commercials such as "Miller Light, Coors Light, and Budweiser" are mostly aimed towards men and contain men in the commercials. http://www.consumerreports.org/health/healthy-living/diet-nutrition/diets-dieting/food-ads-targeting-men-6-07/overview/0607_ads_ov_1.htm
This website talks about MANvertisements, or ads targeted at men.
I read the banning junk food ads. It talked about banning junk food commercials from 6am to 9 pm. It gave how many fast food was shown at a certain time and what shows were playing at that time as well. I think it would be a great thing to do that. Banning fast food would mean we would see less of it, and not think about getting a quick meal. We would be more along the lines of a more nutritious meal, at home. There are so many over weight people in todays society. We watch so much tv every day, that we see tons of commercials and dont think twice about how this affects us.
I agree with lexi. Junk food ads are shown excessively every day. We need to try to put a stop to all the bad ways to eat.

I read "The Media Made Me Eat It" article and I agree because women aren't going to go crazy about a triple whopper. On the otherhand, men aren't really going to go crazy about a veggie delight sub at subway. I agree with Tyler and Alex about the beer commercials lean toward men and not women.

I read "The Media Made me eat it". I agree that many, if not all, ads are targeted at guys by placing females in them. In doing so companies believe they can sell more of their products by gearing ads to men. I also agree with Tyler about how beer commercials are aimed towards men.

I agree, with what michelle has to say about banning junk-food signs and advitisements. The temptation for those types of food is just too great. The number/percentage of overweight teens in America is at an all time high. To decrease these obeseity claims, the government needs to cut back on the media's fascination with junk foods. If all need be necessary, ban all junk food commercials entirely. Anything needs to be done to reduce the obeseity factor within American society.
I read the Sex Appeal article. It was talking about how commercials use females, words, and packaging to promote their product.I think that commercials do hire sexy actors or actresses and doesn't hire fat people.I agree with Michelle, Colbi,Corey,David, and Lexi.
Yes, I agreed we do need to get rid of junk food adds. There need to be a regulation on how many ads there can be and the ads shouldn’t be misleading. The facts I was surprised at that there was so many and that there are more ads when we view it than when our parents view it. Many commercials are very misleading and that we should be able to decide for ourselves not some silly little commercial.
I read banning junk food ads and it talked about banning junk food ads because they think kids and teens will become obese because the more they watch the ads the more they want the product. The ads on channel seven, nine and ten were monitored between 6a.m. to 9p.m. I do agree with the article because our country is full of overweight people and it isn't showing signs of decreasing. I think the ads should show all the calories and what the children and adults are putting in there mouths. Honestly I am surprised about the findings because I have never taken the time to read about these kind of things. No, I have not thought about these issues before and now I think I will definitely think before I eat fast food.

I don't agree with some of my friends because the owners of a fast-food restaurant can possibly change the nutrition and make the food healthier.

I read the article on sex appeal. This article talks about how junk food advertisers such as nestle are using provokative and sexual slogans to promote their items. I agree with the article and i think that these commercials are degrading and offensive to alot of women. I know that if all these tv ads had shirtless men in them it would make me very uncomfortable to watch them so i can only imagine how uncomfortable for women to watch the kinds of commercials that are on now, which are advertising common things such as hot chocolate, potato chips and cereal, things in which men AND women buy.

I read the media made me eat it. I feel that certian commercials pull towards certiaan gender. like the beer commercials for guys and healthy things for girls. just the way they are presented
I read the article entitled "Call for junk food ad ban." I did agree with the arguments presented in this article. CHOICE would be making the correct choice in banning the ads for the duration of the period of time in which children view the television and listen to radio. This time period is stated as being between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. It is when children will see and hear the commercials. Viewing and hearing these commercials can persuade children to eat unhealthy food items seen on television and heard about on the radio. This causes them to become obese and unhealthy. Also, if kids see their favorite characters eating unhealthily, it will be another factor in the persuasion for them to eat unhealthily. That is why the article talks of banning this too. The statistics in the article seemed honest and accurate. Based on what I see, there are many of these commercials shown. Although I have not ever thought long and hard about this issue, it has crossed my mind on previous occasions. Obesity is a big topic in today's world and commercials about junk food do seem to have a negative effect. Banning these commercials while children view them would be very helpful.

I read the section on Sex Appeal. I believe it is true that ads are now trying to become sexual and influence teens. Ads and anything putting something out there should try to keep it clean, and good for morals. This honestly didn't suprise me, and I have noticed it alot more as time goes on.
I believe in these ads they all go by what i go by
I read the aritcle "Sex Appeal". To make eating unhealthy foods look sexy is ridiculous! Especially to kids. Children and Teenagers are going to look at these foods and want them because of the advertising. It is so dumb. Eating unhealthy is not a good thing, and that's what these companies are portraying. Sooner or later the whole world is gonna be fat. Someone needs to stand up and tell these companies how wrong they are!
